Old Jail and Jailer’s Quarters
Location: 206 North College Street
Massive limestone and iron bars a prison made in 1879. Before that, a brick jail held Confederate guerillas. Today, see the graffiti they left behind as well as the museum exhibits. Genealogy records too.
Octagon Hall Civil War Museum
Location: 6040 Bowling Green Road
Built by slaves, this eight-sided antebellum brick home was occupied by both Confederate and Union troops. Legend says it is haunted. Now, by day it is a museum and archive; at night, the scene of ghost hunts and paranormal investigations.
Sandford Duncan Inn
Location: 5083 Nashville Road
A stagecoach stop on the Nashville to Louisville Pike in the early 1800’s, the Inn was the site of a noted dueling ground. Several prominent Tennesseans fought duels here to escape prosecution in their home state. Tours by Appointment.
African-American Heritage Center
Location: 500 Jefferson Street
Located in the heart of the Harristown National Historic District, this restored early 20th century home is a repository of records and exhibits of local black history.

Using local history to evoke universal themes of conflict, growth and progress, these eight detailed super-realistic murals are a must-see. Just off I-65 at Exit 2.
